Real-time data in AmiBroker updates your chart as prices change, so signals and scans use current prices. Delayed data shows prices from a few minutes ago, which is fine for review but risky for entries.
Amiprofits delivers real-time tick data with up to 100 updates a second, plus 1 year of 1-minute backfill and 20 years of end of day data.
How to tell which one you have
- Compare with your broker. Put your AmiBroker chart next to your broker terminal. If the last price differs for minutes, the data is delayed.
- Check the last bar. On a live feed the last 1-minute bar keeps changing. On delayed data it updates in steps.
- Test at the open. Delays are easiest to see in the first minutes after 9:15 when prices move fast.
- Ask the provider. Ask for the update speed in writing. Amiprofits states up to 100 updates a second.
Real-time vs delayed at a glance
Pick based on how you trade.
| Real-time | Delayed | |
|---|---|---|
| Chart updates | As the market moves | Minutes behind |
| Intraday entries | Suitable | Risky |
| Live scans and alerts | Accurate | Late signals |
| End of day review | Works | Works |
If you only review end of day charts, delayed or end of day data can be enough. For intraday trading you want real-time ticks. Read tick data vs 1-minute data and the intraday trading guide for more.
